Anestezie a nervosvalová onemocnění

Při anestezii u nemocných se svalovým postižením někdy dochází ke specifickým komplikacím. Tato zkušenost vedla ke studiu vlivů některých narkotik na fyziologii nervosvalového přenosu a fyziologii svalové kontrakce. Narkotika a myorelaxancia ovlivňují membránové děje na svalovém vláknu, zejména v oblasti nervosvalové ploténky. Kromě toho mohou narušit i fyziologický průběh excitačně-kontrakčního spojení, který probíhá v oblasti sarkoplazmatického retikula.

Kritický stav vysoké teploty a svalové ztuhlosti, který vedl často k selhání respiračních funkcí a oběhového systému, byl nazván maligní hyperpyrexií. U některých onemocnění nervů a svalů se však mohou vyskytovat i jiné komplikace.
