Tenzní bolesti hlavy postihují téměř každého člověka v průběhu jeho života. Jde o nejčastější typ bolesti hlavy. V angličtině se používá termín Tension Type Headache (TTH) ev. CTTH pro chronickou a ETTH pro epizodickou cefalgii tohoto druhu.

Autor se v článku věnuje patogeneze TTH, kde diskutuje možné vyvolávající a spolu se podílející faktory při vývoji tohoto typu bolesti, klinickému obrazu TTH, diferenciální diagnóze i terapeutickým možnostem.
