Klinická jednotka -Normotenzní hydrocefalus- (NPH - Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus) - asociace poruch chůze, demence a sfinkterových obtíží, normální cytologicko-biochemické hodnoty v likvoru, žádné standardní známky nitrolební hypertense - tvoří ve věkové skupině nad 60 let až 10 % množiny nemocí mylně léčených jako Parkinsonova nemoc, Alzheimerova nemoc a jiné. Jedinou racionální léčbou je provedení neurochirurgické zkratové operace (shunt).
