V léčbě zhoubných nádorů centrálního nervového systému se využívají tři hlavní léčebné modality - metody chirurgické, léčba ionizujícím zářením a užití cytostatické chemoterapie. Součástí léčby -specifické- onkologické je vždy léčba podpůrná, umožňující bezpečnou realizaci jedné metody nebo kombinace léčebných metod.
