Péče o pacienty s neurogenní poruchou dolních močových cest představuje jednu z nejobtížnějších oblastí urologické praxe. Neadekvátní postup při diagnostice a léčbě těchto dysfunkcí vede k výraznému zhoršení kvality života. Kromě toho však může ve střednědobém a dlouhodobém časovém úseku vést k vážnému poškození horních močových cest a dokonce úmrtí pacienta. Při léčbě neurogenních dysfunkcí dolních močových cest musíme brát rovněž v úvahu závažnost primárního neurologického onemocnění a celkový fyzický a psychický stav pacienta. Proto je třeba přistupovat ke každému pacientovi individuálně. Trvale probíhající pokrok v porozumění neurofyziologie dolních močových cest a neuropatofyziologie neurogenních mikčních poruch vede k vývoji nových diagnostických a léčebných metod vedoucích ke zlepšení zdravotního stavu a kvality života pacienta.
