Periodické paralýzy

Periodické paralýzy sú väčšinou familiárne ochorenia charakterizované prechodnými stavmi svalovej slabosti kolísavého trvania a intenzity, ktoré nie sú sprevádzané poruchou vedomia, citlivosti ani koordinácie. Výsledky intenzívneho výskumu v posledných desaťročiach potvrdili genetický pôvod familiárnych foriem, pričom podstatou väčšiny z nich sú dnes už známe poruchy v kódovaní proteínov tvoriacich súčasť iónových kanálov lokalizovaných v membránach svalových buniek. Aj dnes sa však najčastejšie používa delenie týchto ochorení podľa sprievodných zmien hladiny kália v krvi počas záchvatu. Rozlišujeme tak skupinu hypokaliemických periodických paralýz, hyperkaliemickú periodickú paralýzu a periodické paralýzy s normálnou hladinou kália počas svalovej slabosti.
