Léčebná rehabilitace u svalových dystrofií

Myopatie, nezávisle na jejich nejrůznější etiologii, představují skupinu chorob, kde jednotícím prvkem je poškození svalových vláken. To má negativní účinek na schopnost pohybu, běžné denní aktivity, komunikaci, kardiorespirační zdatnost. Rozsah postižení jednotlivých systémů závisí na typu myopatie, délce trvání a řadě dalších faktorů. Absence kauzální terapie, vede i v dnešní době k časté skepsi a nihilizmu. Efektivita rehabilitace při zpomalení rozvoje sekundárních změn a tím i zpomalení progrese funkčního deficitu je dokumentována již po řadu let. Efektivita léčebně rehabilitačních postupů je závislá na mnoha faktorech, z nichž některé můžeme ovlivnit. Rehabilitace by měla být soustavná, pravidelná, systematická, zahájena co nejdříve od stanovení diagnózy. Z celého komplexu tzv. ucelené rehabilitace funguje na odpovídající úrovni pouze léčebná rehabilitace. Ostatní složky – pedagogická, sociální a pracovní rehabilitace, které mají zajišťovat nezdravotnické sektory státní správy, výrazně za medicínskou rehabilitací zaostávají, pakliže se vůbec zrodily.
