Prionové choroby a ich aktuálny epidemiologický význam

Transmisívne spongioformné encefalopátie (TSE) človeka, dnes viacej známe ako humánne prionové choroby (Pch), poznáme približne 50 rokov, odvtedy ako nositeľ Nobelovej ceny D. C. Gajdušek úspešne preniesol kuru a Creutzfeldtovu-Jakobovu chorobu (CJch) človeka na laboratórne zviera (1, 2) a dokázal, že sú to smrteľné prenosné ochorenia.
