Foramen ovale patens v neurologii

Foramen ovale patens (PFO, obrázek 1) se nachází přibližně u 25 % běžné populace (4). Diskutovaným se v poslední době stává fakt jeho zvýšeného výskytu u pacientů, zejména mladších 55 let, po prodělaném kryptogenním mozkovém infarktu a rovněž u pacientů trpících migrénou s aurou. Následující řádky shrnují výsledky dosavadního výzkumu zaměřeného především na kauzalitu koexistence těchto tří jednotek a z nich vycházející doporučení pro péči o takové pacienty.
