Vliv antiepileptik na sexuální funkce

Sexuální dysfunkce mohou být nepříjemným, nežádoucím efektem při léčně antiepileptiky. Dle klinických zkušeností se zdá, že tyto nežádoucí účinky jsou poměrně časté. Nicméně neexistuje dostatek kontrolovaných studií, které by stanovily přesnější míru výskytu sexuálních dysfunkcí u jednotlivých antiepileptik. Ukazuje se, že některá antiepileptika mají přímý vliv na hladiny pohlavních hormonů, jiná spíše ovlivňují sexuální chování. Terapie sexuálních dysfunkcí vyvolané antiepileptiky ponejvíce čerpá z údajů kazuistik, nebo malých nekontrolovaných sledováních a neexistují pro ni závazné postupy.
