Diagnostika a terapie Alzheimerovy choroby

Alzheimerova choroba je neurodegenerativní onemocnění s charakteristickými neuropatologickými změnami. Klinicky se projevuje syndromem demence, je to nejčastější příčina demencí vůbec. Má svou specifickou neuropatologii – dochází ke tvorbě a ukládání patologického proteinu beta-amyloidu, k degeneraci neuronálního tau-proteinu a k celé řadě dalších neurodegenerativních projevů, končících snížením tvorby synaptických spojů a apoptózou – zánikem neuronů. To vše pak vede ke klinickému obrazu syndromu demence. Alzheimerovu chorobu zatím nedovedeme léčit kauzálně. Ovlivněním některých patogenetických článků dosahujeme alespoň prodloužení lehkých stadií choroby, oddálení těžkých stadií. Jsou uvedeny některé diagnostické a terapeutické možnosti.
