Antiepileptika a těhotenství

Těhotenství může u některých pacientek s epilepsií zvyšovat frekvenci záchvatů. Jak epilepsie matky, tak expozice antiepileptické terapii in utero, mohou zvyšovat riziko poškození dítěte narozeného ženě s epilepsií. Přesto se při vhodné péči před otěhotněním, během těhotenství a po porodu narodí asi 90 % žen s epilepsií zdravé dítě. Epilepsie není kontraindikací těhotenství ani kojení. Cílem léčby antiepileptiky by měla být kontrola záchvatů bez závažných nežádoucích účinků.
